GelStix Hydrogel implant
The GelStix Nucleus Augmentation device (known under the name of DiscMaxx in Germany) introduces hydrophilic material into the nucleus that restores natural hydration and pressure to degenerating discs as well as stabilizes the pH in the nucleus to healthier level. The GelStix (DiscMaxx) implant is composed of hydrolysed polyacrylonitrile (HPAN) and is inserted through the same needle used to perform a diagnostic discogram or administer intradiscal medication.
